Session 6

Session 6
OK, we found a tree with a cave inhabited by mites and decided it was our business. Thinking the mites would be pushovers we went in and fought our way to a room with a nearly dead Kobold who offered us great treasure for a statue the mites stole from their tribe. Well, we found a chasm and our armored pally fell into it, then a freaking scary huge centipede appeared out of nowhere and attacked.
Well the combat did not go well, if we had spotted the centipede we could have opened up on it with arrows and killed it but instead it killed our paladin, who is an Asamir and a paladin of Erastil.
Here is where the story starts to stretch, when our Inquisitor died because two players where missing we had the chance to dip the Inquisitor in the pool of the ruined temple to bring him back, because it was ultimately not fair that he died when he likely would have survived if the other players who had legitimate reasons had made the game. So here we are with a freshly dead Palladin of Erastil, of course we have to toss her corpse into the pool, it worked once, it might again. But honestly having a resurrection point strains credibility at best and ruins the challenge at worst.
Ultimately we acknowledged that we have a huge karmic debt to Erastil and our pally was put back together, they then converted the parties one non religious character (two miracles will do that).
My solution to the Karmic Debt is to hire a construction crew and a team of soldiers to guard the construction crew to work on refurbishing the temple (and secure it) out of the parties collective pocket. By my math it comes to about 56 gp a week to have 10 craftsmen, 10 apprentices, 10 laborers and 10 soldiers on site working, and it works with the story we are weaving.

(38328) Andraste: So we continue south I take it?
(38375) Segrid: How far south are we allowed to go according to our current charter?
(38375) Segrid: I'm thinking maybe we want to loop around like so:
(38328) Andraste: I think a few more aquares, like 3 or 4?
(38376) Cairne Garess: works for me androste.
(38376) Cairne Garess: andraste, keep getting you confused with the other andtroste.
(38375) Segrid: keep us in the plains for now
(38328) Andraste: Who is Andtroste xD
(38375) Segrid: or maybe we should do this:
(38376) Cairne Garess: saint of the maker, her ashes cure disease.
(38328) Andraste: Yep from Dragon Age
(38328) Andraste: This Andraste is named after a Celtic Goddess of War.
(38376) Cairne Garess: I am good with either, trouble is willing to walk wherever so long as its not too fast or too heavy
(38279) Jeremiah Nixon: brb
(38371) DM: It's now early morning, 16 Pharast. You are in hex 4-6.
** (38328) Andraste stretches herself, before combing her hair and washing up, followed by prayer to Erastil. **
(38376) Cairne Garess: Carine Prays, reads, cleans self with Prestidigitation and casts create water on zel.
** (38375) Segrid , feeling good about the day, waters the horses and starts prepping them for the journey. **
** (38328) Andraste gives a crossed look at Cairne. **
(38371) DM: Are you going to hex 4-7?
(38375) Segrid: Yes. (?)
(38375) Segrid: I think that's the plan
(38371) DM: Hex 4-7 is a plains hex.
(38328) Andraste: Well hopefully its an interesting plain hex
(38371) DM: It is early afternoon when you finish exploring the flat terrain.
(38328) Andraste: "Hmm..after we establish something here, I think a few patrols around the borders would be prudent," she notes, "And perhaps finding someone to hunt down the remaining troll."
(38371) DM: You find that a small portion of the Shrike river loops through the southernmost tip of this hex.
(38376) Cairne Garess: well, I guess we start on the next hex.
(38279) Jeremiah Nixon: (( BAck ))
(38375) Segrid: 5-7
(38328) Andraste: ((Lets head south, and rest near the river. Havent had a good river bath in awhile )
(38375) Segrid: Follow the Shrike south/southwest
(38279) Jeremiah Nixon: (( Sounds good to me ))
(38393) Zelata (enter): 19:10
(38375) Segrid: Hi Z
(38371) DM: The night passes uneventfully as you quickly fall asleep to the gentle sounds of the river.
(38328) Andraste: (Hey Z, just missing Card now)
(38393) Zelata: Sorry I'm late have we started yet?
(38393) Zelata: Yo
Attempting to assign the role of Player to (38393) Zelata...
(38393) Zelata: ((Yo))
(38328) Andraste: (We defeated another troll while you were late)
(38393) Zelata: I wake up early to go dipping into the river in my loin cloth bra and underwear.
(38376) Cairne Garess: And you got rained on.
(38393) Zelata: ((Nuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu))
(38395) Arelius (enter): 19:11
(38375) Segrid: (yes, we just explored 4-7 a simple plains hex and found nothing of interest)
(38376) Cairne Garess: it was a curous 2 gallons of rain that suddenly appeard over your head.
(38375) Segrid: Hi Carden
(38395) Carden: (hey; someone send me what has happened)
Attempting to assign the role of Player to (38395) Carden...
(38328) Andraste: ( Andraste was strangely absent while this happened :3))
(38328) Andraste: ((hey Card : ) now everyone's here)
(38393) Zelata: I wake up Adraste to go swimming with me.
** (38328) Andraste gets up, and groggily follows, hoping to get a quick drink of water and wash her face. **
(38371) DM: It is now early on 17 Pharast.
** (38279) Jeremiah Nixon preparshis spells and gear for the coming day **
(38393) Zelata: I cannon ball into the water, the deepest part I can find.
(38376) Cairne Garess: brb
** (38395) Carden stretches and packs sup **
** (38375) Segrid leans over and whispers to Cairne "I thought this was the Shrike River, not the Shriek River." **
(38279) Jeremiah Nixon: "heh"
(38375) Segrid: "Isn't that water cold? It's pretty early in the year for bathing." Segrid calls out to the ladies.
(38393) Zelata: I go a secluded section as well to take a bath before coming back to camp.
(38393) Zelata: I say back to Segrid "For males for who care nothing for hygeine maybe!"
** (38375) Segrid laughs. "I'll save myself for those hot springs the fairies told us about, thank you." **
** (38395) Carden shakes his head "We continuing south or want to head west?) **
(38395) Carden: "
(38279) Jeremiah Nixon: "Ill take a bath when I have hot water"
(38328) Andraste: "Yes Segrid, being clean is very important!" she says, emptying a bucket of water over Zelata's head, "Which is why Zel needs an exceptional scrubbing."
(38393) Zelata: brb**
(38375) Segrid: "Your a braver soul than I, dear Andraste. Although, perhaps with flamey in there, the water might rise to a boil."
(38376) Cairne Garess: back
(38328) Andraste: "Perhaps with you around in the water with the ladies, Sir Segrid, the water will become that much hotter?" she chuckles.
(38371) DM: The plains soon give way to the low rolling hills at the edge of the Kamelands.
(38375) Segrid: "I say West \" (5-6, that is after we've fully explored 5-7)
(38371) DM: (hex 5-7 is a hills hex)
(38376) Cairne Garess: eventually the party fund may cover bathing, until then I recomend making do with what is available.
(38328) Andraste: (I am game for exploring the south of the small river)
(38279) Jeremiah Nixon: (( Might as well ))
(38371) DM: It is shortly after noon and you have explored about half of the hex.
** (38375) Segrid blushes, turning away to hide his reaction from Andraste. "Umn" (gulp) "That's a chance I'll have to postpone taking for the moment." **
(38371) DM: As you reapproach the northernish bank of the Shrike river, you come upon the abandoned remnants of a river ferry crossing.
(38279) Jeremiah Nixon: "Now this could be useful"
(38371) DM: A thick soggy rope hangs across the river.
(38371) DM: In front of the dock is a sign that reads "Nettles' Crossing--5 coppers--ring bell for service."
(38328) Andraste: "It could be, but it appears worse for wear and I don't trust it," she says, noting its appearence.
(38371) DM: A rusty bell hangs by the sign
(38375) Segrid: "Looks like it's in need of repair. I wonder if the badits destroyed it?"
** (38395) Carden goes over and rings the bell; betting nothing occurs **
(38279) Jeremiah Nixon: "No Idea"
(38375) Segrid: "Well, I guess that sign is out of date...."
(38328) Andraste: "I doubt it, it looks like nature did it in,"
(38371) DM: As soon as you ring the bell, you see a rotting body rise up out of the water a little downstream, among some debris that is caught on the rocks.
(38328) Andraste: "Well I wonder where the ferryman is," she chuckles, "Maybe he'll rise from the grave right this instant.
(38371) DM: The rotting body begins to move towards you slowly, walking on the water.
(38375) Segrid: "Is.. that him?"
(38371) DM: It raises a hand and speaks out in a errie soggy voice:
** (38279) Jeremiah Nixon draws his sword **
(38375) Segrid: "Andraste, I hate it when you're prophetic like that."
(38371) DM: "You are not my tormentors. Throw the Stag Lord's body into the river that I may look upon his death, or join me instead."
(38376) Cairne Garess: "Zel, I hope you are ready with the fire."
(38376) Cairne Garess: I cast mage armor
(38376) Cairne Garess: or not
(38328) Andraste: "Hold on," she says raising a hand, "It doesnt appear hostile. It wants us to throw the stag lord in there with him it seems.
(38376) Cairne Garess: man everyone hates that guy.
(38279) Jeremiah Nixon: "Guys wait I dont think it will attack us unless we attack first"
** (38395) Carden quirks a brow **
(38375) Segrid: "The Stag Lord torments you? How?
(38328) Andraste: "Tell me, good sir. Why do you wish to see this man join you within the watery depths of this river?" she asks loudly.
(38376) Cairne Garess: Andraste, are you getting anything off of this guy?
** (38328) Andraste tries detect evil on him. **
(38371) DM: (detects as NE)
(38328) Andraste: "He has a malovelent spirit, I think he's undead."
** (38395) Carden as they talk to the dead man; looks around (perception [1d20+7] => [7,7] = (14)) **
(38328) Andraste: "Or at the very least, a man with rubbery skin, who can hold his breath for hours and is evil."
(38371) DM: "The Stag Lord and his bandits attacked and burned my house. They killed my hounds and caused the bridge to collapse, forcing me into the icy waters where I drowned."
(38279) Jeremiah Nixon: "Sounds like all he wants is some Revenge"
(38375) Segrid: "Where is your house that we may examine the truth of your words?"
(38376) Cairne Garess: "Rest spirit, for the stag lord will face justice."
(38328) Andraste: "Tell me spirit, if we are to grant you your revenge, will you rest in peace?" she asks.
(38371) DM: (motions to the far right)
(38328) Andraste: (Is it at the other side?)
(38371) DM: "Once the waters of the river have received the body of the Stag Lord then I will be at peace. Go and exact my revenge on him!"
(38371) DM: (yes)
(38328) Andraste: "I think I am willing to grant this poor soul the peace he sought, what of you, my friends?"
(38279) Jeremiah Nixon: "I have no Problems with that"
(38375) Segrid: "Punching horses, burning dogs inside buildings, this Stag Lord sounds like a real di....uh, unpleasant fellow."
** (38395) Carden nods **
(38375) Segrid: "I have no problems trying to give the ferryman his due, if it will rest his spirit and cleanse the evil from this place."
(38371) DM: "Now go!"
(38371) DM: The body slowly receeds back into the water.
(38328) Andraste: "Indeed, we need to end his influence on these lands if we are to truly make it safe for settlers," she notes, "Any ideas how to cross?"
** (38375) Segrid shivers at the sight. **
(38279) Jeremiah Nixon: "Throw the Stag Lords Body In?"
(38395) Carden: "Well west then; I dare wish to test the water with that fellow in there"
(38375) Segrid: "Perhaps if we follow the river some more we may find a natural ford?"
(38328) Andraste: "And now the mood to bathe in rivers has abated for a few days," she says, as the body descends.
(38371) DM: (it's a DC 12 climb check to shimmy along the hanging rope)
(38395) Carden: (true but would have to leave horses)
(38328) Andraste: ((Yep, lets find a safe place to ford across)
(38279) Jeremiah Nixon: (( and the undead guy will probaly attack as well ))
(38375) Segrid: ((yeah, lets continue downstream a bit))
(38376) Cairne Garess: sure
(38328) Andraste: (i think our new teammate pointy stick has no problem crossing though)
(38376) Cairne Garess: stick that shoots flame, he's the best sorcerer ever!
(38371) DM: As you continue along the bank further downstream, you are able to find a place to ford and spend the rest of the afternoon completing your exploration of this hex.
(38375) Segrid: ((I think we should call him Jose)
(38279) Jeremiah Nixon: (( Only One I trust to shoot flames ))
(38395) Carden: (hehe)
(38376) Cairne Garess: (zel is going to burn us all)
** (38395) Carden trots along **
(38328) Andraste: ((can we explore the man's hut too :) ))
(38371) DM: There are just some burnt remains of what was once a house.
(38375) Segrid: (Dog bones inside?)
** (38328) Andraste tethers her horse to something solid, before getting off. **
(38376) Cairne Garess: everyone knows that bandits keep all the good stuff in the ashes of houses they burn, its a thing they do.
(38371) DM: (survival check)
(38376) Cairne Garess: brb
(38375) Segrid: Survival: [1d20+5] => [2,5] = (7); +2 vs. Humans +1 track
(38375) Segrid: (yay :( ))
** (38395) Carden shakes his head and dismounts as well; looking around as well (survival [1d20+6] => [3,6] = (9)) **
(38395) Carden: (geezx)
(38371) DM: You don't find any bones "inside" the house, but out front you find some that could be from dogs
(38371) DM: you also find a couple of arrowheads close to the bones
(38328) Andraste: "Poor dogs, but i think they were killed by arrows," she says.
(38375) Segrid: "Our bandits like to shoot people and pets from a safe range, it seems. Except for the dead ole battleaxe."
(38376) Cairne Garess: back
(38279) Jeremiah Nixon: "just one more reason to put him in an early grave"
** (38328) Andraste sighs, getting up and rearranging her leather skirt, "Theres nothing left for us to do here. Perhaps we can mark the poor ferryman's grave when we return." **
(38375) Segrid: "People should be able to eak out an existence, no matter how meager, without the fear of such tresspasses."
(38395) Carden: "Sounds finds Andraste"
(38371) DM: On towards hex 5-6 (to the west of here)?
(38375) Segrid: "I think once we've taken care of the Stag Lord, we should restore the bridge as a memorial."
** (38395) Carden nods **
(38375) Segrid: (yes, 5-6)
(38328) Andraste: "Indeed, lets head out, the sooner we find this man, the faster this land shall heal."
(38376) Cairne Garess: I think we should handle the stag lord sooner rather than later so as to not chance other travler's stumbling into that unnatural creature's path.
(38376) Cairne Garess: doot?
(38328) Andraste: ((if only we had a druid!)
(38375) Segrid: "Aye, the foul man's reign must end."
** (38395) Carden nods **
(38371) DM: Traveling to hex 5-6 reveals more hilly terrain.
(38371) DM: As you explore further in towards the center of the hex, you begin to make out a huge 100' tall sycamore tree in the distance.
(38328) Andraste: "The man is well established it seems, we shouldn't be overly hasty however," she says, and points at the tree, "Do you think thats the Sycamore tree Bokken mentioned?"
(38395) Carden: "Thats a sight"
(38376) Cairne Garess: 63 rations left
(38375) Segrid: "Sycamore.. didn't the bandits we capture say something about a sycamore tree?"
(38279) Jeremiah Nixon: "Could be"
(38328) Andraste: "Worth investigating in my opinion, lets head there."
** (38395) Carden follows the troop **
(38375) Segrid: "Something about mice? No... mites. Said something about mites under a sycamore tree right?"
(38376) Cairne Garess: A large thicket of fangberres grows 65 miles south of olegs.
** (38279) Jeremiah Nixon readies his Crossbow and follows after the others **
(38376) Cairne Garess: thats what he said
(38328) Andraste: "Oh yes, this could be where they took the loot."
(38375) Segrid: "And perhaps Svetlanna's ring?"
(38376) Cairne Garess: and bokken's brother lives in a tree.
(38371) DM: As you get closer to the tree, while still perhaps a couple of hundred feet away, you come upon some dead bodies, both of mites and of kobolds
** (38375) Segrid dismounts and readies shield and sword. **
(38376) Cairne Garess: oh yeah, the mites stole some stuff and took it to their sycamore.
** (38395) Carden gets his bow in hand as he rides through the bodies **
(38411) Andraste (enter): 19:53
(38376) Cairne Garess: (draws his dagger)
** (38375) Segrid continues to approach the tree with caution **

(38411) Andraste: [1d20+1] => [18,1] = (19) Perception
(38371) DM: It is a root-lined shaft that drops 10 feet down to what looks like a tunnel
(38376) Cairne Garess: the stick we replaced zel with cast fireball and saved the entire party.
** (38395) Carden points to the place "Got an entrance over here" **
** (38375) Segrid moves over to Carden points. **
** (38279) Jeremiah Nixon walks over **
** (38395) Carden dismounts and slings his bow over his shoulder. **
(38375) Segrid: "Careful now, if this is their nest there may be a lot of them.

(38371) DM: You can navigate the shaft using the roots that stick out all around with a DC 5 climb check.
** (38411) Andraste takes out her sword and shield, "Can someone hand me the small hatchet? I think it would serve better than this longsword." **
Attempting to assign the role of Player to (38416) Zelata...

(38371) DM: everyone please wait until I describe what he finds
(38411) Andraste: ((He finds more holes no doubt)

(38418) Zelata: ((Wow, really bad net I appoligize))
(38411) Andraste: (( np :s))
(38418) Zelata: I hand Andraste the Masterwork Axe I had taken from the trapper that had been killed.
Attempting to assign the role of Player to (38418) Zelata...
(38418) Zelata: ((brb, sorry))
(38279) Jeremiah Nixon: (( It happens ))
(38371) DM: ok, Segird you see three mites as you drop to the floor of the tunnel
(38371) DM: the ceilings in these underground spaces are only about 5' high, so you have to bend over and adjust your weapon swings (-2 to hit on attacks)
** (38411) Andraste takes the axe, thanking Zelata. **
(38371) DM: You see two of the mites engaged in a strange competition while a third looks on
(38371) DM: Dingletooth is using a small catapult rigged out of bones and branches to shoot caltrops at Uurch's mouth, which he then tries to catch.
(38371) DM: Dingletooth has just reloaded when he sees you!

(38371) DM: Here's the room description, which I somehow deleted from my area nodes
(38418) Zelata: ((Sorry about that, I am my mothers caretaker, and if she neeps help I have to help her :| A full time job, pays well though :P ))
(38371) DM: Notes: Three crude, wooden workbenches occupy the center of this
room, their tops strewn with various tiny tools, metal and

(38433) Zelata: I ride my horsey too.
(38279) Jeremiah Nixon: "Hope this works"
(38371) DM: As you ride off from the sycamore tree, you find that your path is blocked by a statue standing right in the middle of the trail!
(38371) DM: It doesn't appear to be solid
** (38375) Segrid looks at the statue in disbelief. **
(38279) Jeremiah Nixon: "Now that was not there before"
(38433) Zelata: "What in the world?"
** (38395) Carden pulls reigns hard to avoid crashing into the statue **
(38371) DM: and you're not sure if it's real or if you are having a vision
(38395) Carden: "holy erastil"
(38433) Zelata: Gets off and and tries to push it over.
(38371) DM: Then there's that disembodied voice again:
(38371) DM: "Administer the draught of preservation to your fallen comrade and make haste to my temple so that she may live again!"
(38371) DM: Then the statue fades away
(38371) DM: and there is a golden vial on the ground where the base of the statue was
** (38395) Carden dismounts and collects the vial. He soons pulls it into Andraste mouth. **
(38395) Carden: (pours*)
** (38375) Segrid mutters a quiet prayer of thanks to Erastil. **
(38371) DM: (the vial contains a potion of gentle repose)
(38433) Zelata: I fall over after attempting to push the statue over.
** (38279) Jeremiah Nixon doent know what to say **
** (38395) Carden does another prayer as he finishes and mounts back up to head to the temple **
(38376) Test: It can contain moose urine for all I care, when a horned statue tells you to do something you do it.
(38375) Segrid: "Let us fly!"
(38411) Andraste: There is a flow fo blood sliding out from her mouth, staining her long platinum blonde hair, but she looks serene, a gentle smile on her face as if she was just sleeping; yet the large bite wound onher throat quickly reminds you that she is indeed dead.
(38279) Jeremiah Nixon: "Let's hurry then"
(38376) Test: Guidnce for the forced march.
(38376) Test: +1 to the constitution check, also we have two horses each.

(38455) Zelata: ((What?))
** (38395) Carden moves the horse close to the pool and soon starts to slide andraste in **

** (38375) Segrid weeps with the fairies. **
** (38279) Jeremiah Nixon watches **

(38375) Segrid: "Friends, we hope Erastil's might will once again provide a respite from our sorrows."
(38279) Jeremiah Nixon: "Well hopefully that will change Shortly"
(38371) DM: The sky has been overcast as you approached the temple, but once you lay Andraste's body into the pool, there is a clearing in the clouds
(38371) DM: and streaming demiglories of light break through and illuminate the pool
(38371) DM: suddenly Andraste sits up and lets out a big gasp
(38371) DM: and begins coughing
(38376) Cairne Garess: "note to self, Temple to Shelyn needs a pool"

** (38458) Andraste opens her eyes and stares up at the sky, "I can see the sky I was once born under again, I am alive," she says, with a hint of a sigh in there, as if in regret. **
(38371) DM: (you guys are going to have to drop some coin for Erastil at some point to make up for the "free" resurrections)
** (38395) Carden kneels to the ground and does another prayer. He ends it with "Thank you great and wise Erastil" **
(38458) Andraste: Whatever small amounts of sorrow her face shows quickly disappears as soon as she sees her friends, quickly breaking into a smile matching Segrid's, "It appears Erastil has blessed us to be together once more, my friends. I apologize for failing you earlier."
(38375) Segrid: "Yes, yes you are." Segrid hugs Andraste.
(38371) DM: "She's alive!" the faries shout and begin dancing about.
(38375) Segrid: "Failing? No, no failure."
(38376) Cairne Garess: (Do we put those coins in the pool or is there a box?)
(38371) DM: (I'll think about it. Someone might get a vision of what to do or build for him.)
(38279) Jeremiah Nixon: "I wouldnt call that a failure"
(38458) Andraste: ((We can make a box, how about we make a statue the first thing after we start our kingdom :3)
(38375) Segrid: "The thing that destroyed you was in turn destroyed." Realizing he is still holding the paladin, he quickly realeases her, turning a deep shade of red.
** (38458) Andraste nods her head at everyone, and accepts Segrid's hug, "It is alright Segrid, though I am a Paladin, I am also a person, and also a woman." she says, giving him a radiant smile. **

(38458) Andraste: "Indeed, " she says, opening her eyes, "This does nothing but reinforce my faith in Old Deadeye. I feel as if I have to repay him for his kindness to his followers."
(38375) Segrid: "It was amazing, Andraste. That statue.. from the ... visions. appeared to us all and told us to feed you a preserving draught, which appeared when the statue faded, and bring you here. We were already headed here with hope and dread of equal measure."
(38375) Segrid: "I feel like we should find that statue, find what it means."
(38375) Segrid: "hmmm.. if it's even real."
(38375) Segrid: "I've never been big into this spiritual stuff."
(38458) Andraste: "It is possibly Erastil's avatar on this plane, to meet his faithful followers, and yes, I am glad you had faith in Old Deadeye to see me brought back to life," she says.
(38376) Cairne Garess: "my Goddess is pretty cool too...)
(38458) Andraste: "Has this changed your mind, Segrid?" she says, tiling her head, letting a few drops of water fall from her hair.
** (38375) Segrid hangs his head. "I guess my father always had more faith in steel than spirit." he sighs "But what I've seen these past few weeks....." **
(38375) Segrid: "No steel can do these things."
(38375) Segrid: "Erastil has plans for you and Brother Carden surely."
** (38458) Andraste nods her head, "It is not a weakness to rely on steel, Sigrid...and yes, miracles, more miracles than any person has a right to see in one lifetime." **
(38375) Segrid: "Aye, Cairne, I was raised to believe in the goodness of the gods, but to trust in the firmness of the blade."

(38375) Segrid: "Steel is all I've had... but now I feel like there's more... That maybe even I... err, maybe my blade is meant for more than just being sharpened. Do you think Erastil has plans for me, Andraste?"
(38375) Segrid: "I would rather like that, yes."
(38375) Segrid: "What.. what do I do?"
(38376) Cairne Garess: ..
(38458) Andraste: "Plans? Perhaps, only he can say. But I believe so, I truly do," she says, giving a reassuring smile, "As for what you wish to do? That is up to you, free will is a gift of the gods bestowed on all sentient beings."
(38376) Cairne Garess: My guess is you respect nature, use a bow and every part of the game you kill.
(38458) Andraste: "But I believe you would make a fine worshipper of Erastil, already you respect his ways," she says, agreeing with Cairne.
(38375) Segrid: "Those are easy enough tenants to live by, and not at all foreign to my way of thinking. Doesn't Erastil speak of raising a family, as well?"
** (38375) Segrid turns slightly pink. **
(38458) Andraste: "Erastil promotes the simple life, a man raising a happy loving family, through hard work and devotion," she says, nodding her head, "And the woman staying at home tending to the chores and the children, and giving him a helping hand when he needs it."
(38375) Segrid: "If you will continue to teach me his ways, Andraste, I will try to follow them. I am glad to have you as an instructor... and a friend."
(38458) Andraste: "I will try to guide you, Segrid," she says, a hand on his, "And I am glad to have someone loyal and steadfast by my side. No doubt you grieved the most while I was gone?"
(38376) Cairne Garess: Erastil (pronounced eh-RAS-til)[1] => 1 is one of the oldest gods still worshiped in Avistan. His religion dates back to before the Age of Darkness when small farming communities and hunter-gatherers prayed to him for bountiful harvests and successful hunts. He is a god of the hunt and of farming, leading his followers by example and good deeds rather than flowery rhetoric
(38376) Cairne Garess: [1d20+7] => [1,7] = (8)
** (38375) Segrid warms at her touch, smiling a bit embarrasedly. "I was... most aggrieved indeed. I know the others were also frettful. Umnn.. " **

(38371) DM: (I'm going to save the chat text now. See you guys next time.)
** (38458) Andraste chuckles, and gently taps your nose with her finger, "I didn't, but now I know," she smiles, "And I am glad, it is wrong I know, to feel good while others miss you, but I do." **

[11:38:05] (38375) Segrid: ((Our ACs are pretty high for our level, it's just giant things with lots of HD that are kicking our tails... mostly... axe wielding bandits ...))
[11:40:39] (38375) Segrid: ...
[11:41:08] (38458) Andraste: ((Yep))
[11:41:18] (38458) Andraste: ((Sorry was alt tabbed away to read about paladins))
[11:41:37] (38375) Segrid: ((np))
[11:41:39] (38458) Andraste: ((I have an AC of 21, I was like, what are the chances you would roll a 17 or higher? And then Isee 18...Fuu!)
[11:42:23] (38458) Andraste: "She is indeed...impulsive, but it shall be tempered with experience. I am doubtful my death has made her any more careful, but one can only hope," she says.
[11:44:07] ** (38375) Segrid 's smile fades "She loves you, and I am sure your... demise affected her, but she seems immune to chastisement in any form." **
[11:45:52] (38375) Segrid: "But you seem to be able to direct her impulses to some degree. Without you she'd probably get us all killed."
[11:47:40] (38375) Segrid: "Look, I'm not trying to be mean. I'm actually trying not to be mean to her; you were right, it serves no purpose.. but sometimes I see her recklessness and... I don't want to lose you... any of you because of it."
[11:49:09] (38458) Andraste: "Experience tempers even the most fiery disposition Segrid," she smiles, "I understand that, Segrid. And out of all the others, I can see you have become far nicer to her, I appreciate this. I believe she will change for us, or at least try to care for us the same way we care for each other,"
[11:51:28] (38458) Andraste: "All of this is hope and faith," she says, "Something I was born and raised to have, it has helped keep me positive during the hardest points in my life. And I hope to share this gift with you as well during our journey."
[11:53:25] (38375) Segrid: "And I admit, I find her ... enthusiasm... contagious when we aren't in danger. She has a lot of spunk and I cannot deny that she has power. I think we need to ... I need to... show her that we respect her for that. Maybe if she can trust more than just you, she'll open herself to that growth you hope for."
[11:55:02] (38458) Andraste: "Indeed," she says, taking off a wooden symbol from underneath her armor, handing it to Segrid, "Here, this is a symbol of Erastil. When I was a young girl, a priest gave me three in exchange for my services to Erastil. I wish you to have one, a symbol of me sharing my faith with you,"
[11:56:27] ** (38375) Segrid blinks. "I umn... I don't... err.. Thank you, Andraste." he pauses when taking it from her, his hand lingering against hers. **
[11:57:12] ** (38375) Segrid places the holy symbol around his neck. **
[11:57:54] ** (38375) Segrid kisses Andraste on the cheek. "Thank you." **
[11:58:24] (38375) Segrid: "Umn... I hope that wasn't inappropriate" he flushes.
[11:59:36] (38458) Andraste: "As I said, Segrid," she says, leaning forward and placing a hand underneath your chin, "I am a Paladin," sternness flashes across her face, before breaking into a warm, soft smile, "But also a person," She leans forward and gives him a kiss on the cheek, "As well as a woman."
[12:00:32] (38376) Cairne Garess: Disconnecting from server...
[12:00:32] (38376) Cairne Garess (exit): 00:00
[12:00:59] ** (38375) Segrid looks into Andraste's eyes. "A woman." he repeats. Then, taking her into his arms, he kisses her gently on the lips. **
[12:03:03] ** (38458) Andraste hugs him in return, returning his kiss, her hair, now dry, flutters in the breeze. **
[12:04:51] ** (38375) Segrid brushes the side of her cheek. "For as long as you'kll suffer the burden of my company." he smiles "It was my father's wedding vow to my mother. I found her journal when I was Zelata's age. You are the most remarkable woman I have ever met Andraste." **
[12:06:31] (38458) Andraste: For the first time since you've met her, she blushes, "Thank you," she says simply, "And whether you admit it or not, you are the most courageous, dutiful and empathic man I have ever known."
[12:07:30] ** (38375) Segrid smiles broadly. "Tell me more about Erastil's teachings on family." **
[12:08:24] ** (38458) Andraste sits down on the pool side, her face beet red, "Well, in the..uhm...Erastilian's ideal family..." **
[12:09:28] (38458) Andraste: "I am sorry, the revival has taken a lot out of me," she says.
[12:11:59] (38375) Segrid: "Oh, of course, you must be exhausted. There will be time for you to show, err, teach, ummmnn tell me about it." he turns red. "I'd like to spend a little time reflecting on.. what I've learned. But please allow me to set your tent and bedroll up. Please,l it'll only take a few minutes. You rest here."
[12:13:38] ** (38375) Segrid sets up Andraste's tent and unfurls her bedroll for her, whistling softly as he does so. When the task is complete, he helps her up and then goes into the temple to pray. **
[12:15:20] ** (38458) Andraste lays down, still beet red from the experience, taking a moment to pray something only she knew to her God before slipping off into a blissful sleep. **
