Session 8

Session 8
Last third of the Mite's cave, that location is dangerous!
we went in and got in a fight with a pack of mites and their giant tick pet, and where able to just barely kick their asses back to Narnia with the help of the local Kobolds. The fight went on for a while because we where down two players where not able to show.
this battle ended with us handing the local Kobolds their stolen idol and being invited back to their village for tea and crumpets. We have been offered a sizable amount of gold if we make peace with the Kobolds or kill them and here we have been offered a chance to feast with them in celebration for destroying their enemies home base and retrieving their idol. Perhaps we can even convince them to trade in crack radishes as well.

Attempting to assign the role of GM to (1) DM...
(2) Cairne (enter): 17:58
(2) Cairne: I am in!
Attempting to assign the role of Player to (2) Cairne...
(1) DM: ok
(1) DM: cool
(1) DM: I think my DSL modem was blocking it
(1) DM: but not now
(2) Cairne: Ok, I am in it to win it but I may have to use some of rone's excuses, I am using a less than reliable router to connect today.
(3) NapalmMoose (enter): 18:00
Attempting to assign the role of Player to (3) Jeremiah Nixon...
(1) DM: Hi
(3) Jeremiah Nixon: Sup guys
(2) Cairne: how do you cguys make dice shortcuts in open rrpg?
(1) DM: I have roller nodes that I use for the NPCs and monsters
(2) Cairne: [1d20+8] => [4,8] = (12)
(3) Jeremiah Nixon: I had a node that I used, but Open ate the Node so...
(1) DM: You can build your own forms from the templates under the OpenRPG+ 1.7.1 subtree
(1) DM: the text box item lets you say if you want it to also show a "send" button to the right of it
(1) DM: if you add the send button then it will send whatever is in the text box to the chat
(1) DM: if that text is a die roll then it does that
(1) DM: Napalm, do you want me to send you the character sheet node again?
(2) Cairne: [3d6] => [6,4,5] = (15)
(2) Cairne: [3d6] => [3,6,2] = (11)
(2) Cairne: [3d6] => [4,2,6] = (12)
(2) Cairne: [3d6] => [6,5,3] = (14)
(2) Cairne: [3d6] => [6,6,4] = (16)
(2) Cairne: [3d6] => [6,2,4] = (12)
(2) Cairne: wow, I'll take those stats.
(3) Jeremiah Nixon: nah im good i still have the one you sent me
(1) DM: ok
(2) Cairne: navel gazing d20+8
(1) DM: has to be in brackets
(1) DM: with a number before the 'd'
(2) Cairne: Navel gazing [d20+8] => d20+8
(2) Cairne: constructive farting [20d20+200] => [15,4,20,16,14,16,14,16,15,7,5,18,11,13,3,17,4,20,8,2,200] = (438)
(2) Cairne: 184.60.114.71:6774
(2) Cairne: Perception [1d20+8] => [14,8] = (22)
(2) Cairne: 5th edition was just anounced, 4th edition is not even 4 years old yet.
(2) Cairne: that makes me giggle.
(3) Jeremiah Nixon: Yep
(3) Jeremiah Nixon: and they arae asking the fans to help make the game
(2) Cairne: Given WoTC's ling history of listening to their fans I'm sure its going to be great.
(2) Cairne: 3rd party publishers made my favorite parts of 3.whatever, Wotc was allways in my opinion the worst thing about 3.wahatever.
(2) Cairne: Scarred lands, Alderac's world's largest whatever, a lot of mongoose publishing's stuff and of course paizo. all with more intriging details than Wotc.
(3) Jeremiah Nixon: True
(1) DM: I have a copy of the World's Largest Dungeon
(4) Reckless (enter): 18:27
Attempting to assign the role of Player to (4) Reckless...
(1) DM: Good evening....infidels!
(4) Segrid: hi
(4) Segrid: ayayayayayiiii.....
(4) Segrid: ....pow!
(2) Cairne: Hiya segrid
(4) Segrid: hi
(2) Cairne: I'm running my real world group through the WLD using pathfinder, they are in the goblin section right now.
(4) Segrid: WLD? sorry, drawing a blank
(1) DM: World's Largest Dungeon
(4) Segrid: Ah
(2) Cairne: when 3.0 was the same age as 4.0 they announced 3.5, now they are just tossing the system and starting over. Its hard to see it as anything but a cynical money grab.
(3) Jeremiah Nixon: I tell myselfs its Wizards finally admitting 4ed was a bad idea
(3) Jeremiah Nixon: But I know otherwise
(1) DM: I wish Goodman Games would have continued to do their Dungeon Crawl Classics for Pathfinder instead of 4.0
(1) DM: Now they're doing their own RPG
(4) Segrid: Problem is I don't think they'll be able to come up with anything that will be innovative as to capture the PF/3,5 audience, and they will loose some people to 4.0 loyalty regardless. So, their only hope to satisfy Hasbro overlords with sales growth is to capture new markets. I just don't think there'll be much of that left by the time 5th comes out.
(5) Carden (enter): 18:42
Attempting to assign the role of Player to (5) Carden...
(4) Segrid: hi Carden
(5) Carden: hey; afk a few
(2) Cairne: I don't think paizo thinks this is a competition as much as WoTC does, they know its a buisness but they are acting like as long as the lights are on they should keep putting out a product they love. Sometimes this means putting out things that are unpopular because they wanted it (gunslinger) but I that is part of their appeal.
(3) Jeremiah Nixon: Yeah Gunslinger doesnt make sense in the pathfinder setting
(2) Cairne: I disagree, guns where part of the wsetting since it was a 3.5 world.
(3) Jeremiah Nixon: Really?
(2) Cairne: really.
(3) Jeremiah Nixon: then i gues they fit in just fine
(4) Segrid: As long as they stay in their corner of the world :P
(4) Segrid: The Alkys can keep them XD
(2) Cairne: exactly thewy are from a corner of the world that is a dead magic zone but resource strong.
(3) Jeremiah Nixon: I was not aware of that
(4) Segrid: http://pathfinder.wikia.com/wiki/Alkenstar
(2) Cairne: in the real world the first cannons and primitave guns where used in the 13th century by the sung dynasty
(2) Cairne: The mongols took cannons with them on some conquests.
(2) Cairne: the guns Pathfinder typically deals with are almost 2 centuries later but technology is screwy in dnd.
(2) Cairne: The peak of missle weapon technology is a composite bow but glass is everywhere, weird stuff like that.
(3) Jeremiah Nixon: lol
(5) Carden: back
(4) Segrid: front
(1) DM: ok, Rone emailed that he would probaby be late
(4) Segrid: :P
(1) DM: Didn't hear anything from Jason
(1) DM: but we can continue on with four
(2) Cairne: Rone will be late? :-o
(1) DM: He said that he had made plans after I said there would be no game tonight
(2) Cairne: I beleive we where in here with several post living individual.
(2) Cairne: s
(1) DM: Seven dead mites lie spralled around the room.
(1) DM: Two fled off to the south.
** (4) Segrid moves forward to see where they've gone off to **
(1) DM: Rows of wooden pegs line the earthen walls, some hung with
tiny, filthy cloaks. In the center of the room stands a rickety
table held together with twine, covered with a filthy redchecked
tablecloth and heaped with mounds of dirt and twigs
and gravel, apparently arranged to form some sort of map.
Sitting at the edge of the map, weighing down a scrap of paper,
is a bloodstained ivory statuette of what looks like a crouching
reptilian devil. A bulging burlap sack sits under the table.
(2) Cairne: I follow segrid.
** (5) Carden follows along **
(1) DM: You see a leader-like mite standing at the table talking to four other mites.
(1) DM: Back away from the table are two more mites and a large tunnel tick!
** (3) Jeremiah Nixon whispers "Got a plan?" **
(2) Cairne: I cast shield
(4) Segrid: "Ask them to surrender then kill them all when they refuse."
(2) Cairne: (ac 18)
(1) DM: Grabbles is speaking in undercommon.

(1) DM: They all turn and look at you glaringly.
(1) DM: Grabbles mounts the tick and they start towards you!

(3) Jeremiah Nixon: "After we have rested a bit"
(1) DM: Mikmek studies the table.

(4) Segrid: Geography: [1d20+6] => [1,6] = (7)
(3) Jeremiah Nixon: "Why would these things have such a detailed map?"
(4) Segrid: .
(4) Segrid: "Mikmek did mention something about a tribal war, didn't he?"
(1) DM: Given that Grabbles was talking to some of the other mites at the table, you figure they were discussing their next attack.
(1) DM: Remember, you found both dead mites and kobolds in the area not far from the tree
(2) Cairne: well, as long as kthe kobolds agree not to weaponize bugs I am cool with this.
** (4) Segrid chuckles **
(1) DM: Mikmek: "We return to Sootscales and give statue to Chief. Death to Tartuk!"

(1) DM: It is close to sunset by the time that you exit the mite lair.
(1) DM: You are able to find a suitable camp site not too far away.
(2) Cairne: I need to rest, I am down to cantrips
(1) DM: (man, that long battle really drained me--is everyone OK with us stopping here?)
(4) Segrid: (sure)
(1) DM: From the map you have a pretty good idea where the Sootscale cave is (to the SE in hex 6-6)
(1) DM: so you can decide for next time if you want to head directly there or explore elsewhere first
(3) Jeremiah Nixon: (( im good with stopping ))
(2) Cairne: ok
(1) DM: Other than the poor rolls, were you able to notice any differences running off my server?
(1) DM: I don't know if each client does its own rolls or not

(1) DM: I got a bunch of different colored messages in my client DOS window from Python
(3) Jeremiah Nixon: There were two time it looked like it was going to crash but that was on my end
(1) DM: well, I'll save off the chat and send that out.
(1) DM: My trip was postponed until next week, so there won't be a game next week
(2) Cairne: it shrinks our party by a third
